How I created the ultimate mobile office.
A while ago I decided to go mobile. I wanted to work from anywhere. Whether on a train, in our motorhome or from the office, I wanted it to be as simple as possible to just pitch up and work anywhere.
To achieve this I needed my ‘mobile office’. Essentially this is a laptop bag with all I needed. I wanted to be able to work from this bag wherever I was and never feel I was missing having anything to hand.
I thought you might be interested to hear what my mobile office contains…
- My Macbook Air.
- My Magic Mouse.
- A Mifi mobile wireless network.
- A scaringly powerful external battery (Hypermac) that charges everything from iPhone to Mac. (Cannot recommend this enough!)
- My iPhone 4.
- My ear phones to create a quiet working environment.
- A portable external hard drive that duplicates most of the content of my drobo (although obviously it cannot contain all of it).
- Various wires and connectors.
- My Eye TV in case I want to watch a bit of TV when away in the motorhome.
- A boba fett thumb drive :)
- A pen and moleskin.
- Various personal bits and bobs like spare contacts and sunglasses.
I have to say having this bag has made a world of difference. I can make the most of my time no matter where I am and it provides a huge sense of freedom because now I can work from anywhere.
